Equal AI Raises $30M Series B

Equal AI, based in India, is a technology company that has developed an AI-powered call assistant designed to screen and manage incoming phone calls. The company has successfully raised $30 million in a Series B funding round, bringing its total funding to over $42 million.

The funding round was led by Prosus Ventures and Tomales Bay Capital. Additional participating investors included Think Investments, Valiant Fund, Sameer Nigam, Zubin Bharti Mittal, Anshu Sharma, Sandhya Devanathan, and Sridhar Pinnapureddy.

The company plans to use the capital to expand its product capabilities, including the introduction of features to screen calls from known numbers and the ability for the AI assistant to perform proactive tasks such as booking appointments. The funding will also support the development of an iOS version of the application and the launch of a paid subscription tier.

Founded in 2022 by Keshav Reddy, Equal AI aims to simplify communication by providing an assistant that receives calls on behalf of users, gathers information, and summarizes the intent of the caller. The product utilizes speech recognition and generation models to support multiple Indian languages and handle code-mixing.
